Weddings and Kiva Lending

With every wedding deposit I receive, we put a portion toward Kiva loans. With Megumi & Paul (to be wed May 23 in Healdsburg) and their wish to fund both education and sustainable ventures, we’ve made five loans today. I was somewhat dismayed that on this day that the Obamas initiated the “Let Girls Learn” campaign all 49 loans in “Education” were offered to men. I chose one man who sought to fund his daughter’s education, one to fund his “children’s” education and two wonderful and deserving men pursuing higher education. But please Kiva let’s also help the girls and women seeking education! In sustainable ventures we loaned to Out of the Box Collective on Kiva Zip: and a coffee farm converting to organic (Angel Ramon, below).
